Steven Schwerbel serves as Director of State Advocacy for WISPA – The Association for Broadband Without Boundaries, working across all 50 states to educate legislators and policymakers on the strengths and best uses of all broadband technologies to solve the challenges they face. WISPA’s advocacy focuses on broadband policies that embrace technology-neutral principles to close the digital divide, expand broadband adoption, and create a regulatory climate that allows all ISPs to thrive.

Prior to joining WISPA, Schwerbel spent 7 years as a staffer in the Wisconsin state legislature. Here, he focused on rural development and broadband policy issues, including serving as the Committee Clerk for the Assembly Committee on Science and Technology, and later for the Senate Utilities Committee.

Schwerbel lives in Madison, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Azerbaijan.
